WiFi Connekt 13A 2-Gang Switched Socket with Ethernet + 2.0A USB is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from CONNEkT Products :-( I purchased a starter kit and a add on unit to network my property and they were absolutely rubbish. They were fitted by an electrical engineer and removed by him after months of misery. The first set were replaced by the manufacturer Groupgear because they did not work and the so called tested replacements were also a load of rubbish, one of the "tested units" that was sent to me had a power socket not working but it was the through put that was the main issue. My service provider sent out engineers to test the connection and they confirmed that there was 30mbps coming in at the router but each CONNEkT socket had much lower speeds ranging from 6.4mbps to 17mbps and only once did we see the full 30mbps. Groupgear came down from Birmingham to sort out the issues with their products but they were at a loss to understand why they would not work consistently in my domestic environment. Groupgear promised to return with lab equipment to find out why their products keep failing but I am still waiting and my emails to this appalling company remain unanswered. My electrical engineer has conducted a full test and survey of my complete electrical wiring measuring the resistance of each circuit looking for problems or loose connections but found nothing wrong. Screwfix were very helpful because I kept them informed about what was happening with these products and when Groupgear started ignoring my requests for further assistance they offered me a refund which I gratefully accepted. My advice to anyone wishing to install a network using powerline converters would be to buy a plug in type then you won't have to pay an electrician to remove them when they don't work or go wrong. CONNEkT powerline converters by Groupgear don't waste your money on this rubbish even the connecting screws are so soft they can only be used once. A great idea but the products are cheap rubbish from China made using appalling quality materials.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Part of multi-puchase This was bought together with the beginners "kit". Please see the review for that kit to understand the rating given to this item. The text from that review is as follows: ----------------------------------------------------------- I bought this product along with an extra double socket from the same manufacturer with a view to improve WiFi reception around a house, which has a large chimney in the middle which creates a significant obstruction to WiFi signals to any part of the house which is "behind" the chimney. Following the instructions, I set the system up to act as a repeater of the main SSID from my ISP's router. The setup went almost exactly the way it was supposed to with the exception of the extra socket, on which the indicator lights stayed red and would not go green even when I rebooted the socket using the suggested pressing of two of the buttons for 20 seconds. I did manage to sort that out after a phone call to the support team who recommended turning the mains power off and on again. I then had three sockets all broadcasting the same SSID as my main router but I could not get a good signal from them in a couple of the areas in the house, which I most needed the boosted signal. I tried changing the channel on which they were broadcasting having used a WiFi analyser application, which I had installed on a smart phone, which suggested a different channel. No matter what I did, I could not get the socket units to broadcast on the specified channel. They all just broadcast on whatever channel they felt like using and it seemed they would change channel frequently. In the end, they turned out to be causing too much interference with my main router broadcast so I turned off the WiFi option and left them simply offering the powerline option. I have managed to make use of that by connecting a television using a CAT5 network cable to one of them. In the end, I have a rather expensive set of sockets, which are really only useful now for the one powerline connection and, if the need arises, USB charging sockets. I daresay that a network Guru might be able to make them work, armed with a greater understanding of the tricks needed to get a good WiFi signal from them but I was unable to do so myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Connected Having had Ethernet connections all over the house using several old plug-in extenders, using up the available sockets. Fitting the WIFI CONNEKT kit and add-ons has improved connectivity and provided WiFi throughout the house and freed up loads of sockets which enabled removal of some extension leads as well. Brilliant Easily installed

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid like the plague Do not buy this It will cause hours and hours of frustration as it interferes with your normal WiFi signal and eventually will cease to be able to log in altogether. I’ve had this for 3 weeks now and if I had the receipt it would be going back to screwfix in the morning Alas I have lost the receipt sonthis extremely expensive piece of junk is going in the bin where it belongs

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well, but poor design Undoubtedly this is a great concept and performs well, but my gripe is that for a replacement mains socket the installation is a ridiculously difficult because of poor design. At the price, it should not be so. The internal screws to lock in the ring main wiring are too small to easily/sufficiently clamp standard house wiring, but the greatest annoyance is the angle that they are screwed into the housing. Ninety degrees from the face plate is the usual angle, but the designer of this bit of kit decided that an angle where you need to be screwing from inside the wall was better! This would be fine if the length of wiring was sufficient and you use a very small screw driver, but in my house it is not. I did manage the job after several frustrating hours and murderous thoughts. This is a simple replacement job and should take just a few minutes. I cannot comment on long term use, but if I ever have to remove this equipment I shall sell the house instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic product! I have had poor WIFI signal strength in various rooms in my home so this sounded like the perfect solution... and it is! Simple to install. I purchased the starter kit plus an add on socket and they all synced in a flash. Handy to have the USB charging socket plus the network sockets. I prefer the fact that it is all built into the socket rather than having a bulky plug in adapter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bit of kit I bought just an add-on socket by mistake too, but it can be flashed to a master (firmware is on GroupGear website). Works with an existing Powerline network but is fiddly to sync. (I ended up programming the Powerline key using a wired connection into one of the ethernet sockets and an app like the Devolo Cockpit powerline utility.). Now works very nicely.
