Titan TTB582PMP 400W Automatic Dirty Water Pump 240V is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 253.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent pump - but ......... After a lot of rain I get water under the floor of my bungalow - and the footings are lower than the sewer so I can't drain it naturally. The solution was to build a sump outside the property and fit a pump. The 400W Titan pump is brilliant and shifts water very quickly. I used all rigid plastic 32mm (1 1/4") basin drain pipe with compression fittings. Unfortunately the adapter will not accept a 32mm fitting without a mod: it is very slighty too tight. Removing the ridges intended to hold a hosepipe (with a file) did the trick. The problem is the automatic switch - the float. What the online spec does NOT say, is that for automatic operation you need 600mm (2 feet) of water to switch on. That's too deep for my purpose and without dynamite or something I can't make my sump any deeper. The bungalow is built on rock. Yes, you can fiddle with the float cable length to get it a little lower, but not good enough. So by not using the provided cable clip (useless!) and securing the cable to the pump body with cable ties you can get the pump to switch on at a much lower level (about 300mm). However, this makes the shortened cable a little stiff so I had to attach an additional float (cork) to the float to make it more buoyant in the water. So I have marked down "features" to 2 stars. Float could be designed better - common with most float switched devices. But sadly, you would have to pay much much more for a better pump - probably with a tube switch. But the pump is brill, and as I have several Titan tools, I don't doubt the reliability - though I have given only star as it has only been set up for a day. So far it has only done it's job once.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value pump Pump works really well. Had last pump for 5 years, so reliability very good. Does what it says on the tin. Works well at all temperatures here in the South of England. Recommend the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value pump Second one of these I have bought, used to pump out septic tank twice a week, l leave it in the pit submerged most of the time except for when I pump out and forget about it,several times left running dry for over an hour still worked fine, not recommended though. After 6 years it finally packed up, no hesitation buying another to replace it.I used to work in industry using similar far more expensive pumps that would only last the same amount of time. Definitely recommend

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surface Water Saviour This pump was bought to clear a vast amount of surface water caused by a poorly maintained farm above me. I set the pump just above the bottom of the worst affected drain pit, and suspended the pump on a rope. I borrowed some lay-flat 1" pipe, but was not satisfactory, as it does not work around bends very well. In the end I inserted a regular garden hose into the pump outlet and sealed it with self-amalgamating tape, which worked fine. The pump does a sterling job now I have attached some more buoyancy to the float switch, as it was switching off way too early. The save the motor I have the RCD connected through a heavy duty timer, as the manufacturer recommends a 20 min on / 10 min off cycle. So the system will not run unless the float switch is activated AND the timer is within it's 'on' period. Overall this seems to work very well and I have ordered some 1" reinforced PVC pipe which I'll fit and bury, along with running the power cable in some sealed conduit, making this a permanent fixture. Very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used to pump out foundations We were extending our house into very heavy clay soil. The foundations kept filling up with water. This was used several times a week for a couple of months to empty the water. We dug a hole the diameter of the pump and about have the pump's height deep. It does need to be semi submerged in water to prime quickly. We were only lifting the water half a metre. Used Screwfix's rigid hose with it. As others have said, don't waste your time with with the layflat stuff, it just isn't going to work. The pump will suck up and spit out small gravel and anything else of similar size. Without it we would have spent hours bailing it by hand, or having to fork out to hire one which would have been several times the cost of this one. Highly recommended!
