Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheap Iron for Occasional Use Cheap and cheerful is how I would class this Iron, it does the job well for a basic mains iron, my star scoring reflects on the strengths and weakness's,value; its a cheap iron but after 2 to 3 minutes is up to temperature and solders well, features; well its either on or of, no temperature control!, performance; the tip burns out very quickly which is common for most basic irons, personally I took a tip of an old iron that fitted over the top of its own tip and this improved soldering greatly as I now had a good quality and hard wearing tip on a cheap iron. As I do a large amount of soldering I do own a temperature controlled unit but its handy to have a spare that I just keep in the tool box for the odd emergency, for that it is worth having, but if you do a lot of soldering then don't be mean, spend more on a serious unit.
