Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tool Bought this to do some re-pointing at a rental property, it was great, made the job so much quicker than normal. Thought it might be a little messy but it was really easy to use. We added plasticiser to the mix, might not have been as easy without. Scoop didn't fit inside the barrel which I found a bit odd but still filled okay. Looking forward to using it for grouting tiles next. Only downside is the ends can be very difficult to unscrew, got there eventually!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful product This really didn’t work for me. I tried it on patio grout and tile cement and both were a complete disaster. I used buttery mortar with plasticiser. It only works for really fat sausages like 3/4 inch. Any thinner and it gets bunged up. The worst thing is that the plastic valves leak fluid, which then concentrates the mortar, preventing extrusion. With a fat sausage you need to refil very frequently, which is a really messy process.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for me It might just be me but I found this more trouble than it’s worth. In the end I just used a small pointing trowel which was easier to use and made less mess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get out what you put in. This mortar gun works as it should and is robustly made. But you need to be vidulant. It works best with very smooth mortar with plenty of plasticiser. And it is best to rinse the whole thing in water/plasticiser mix in between fillings. I’ve been using mine for pointing between paving slabs and it is certainly quicker then using a pointing trowel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A lot easier than.... Had a large patio area to point and didn’t fancy doing it by trowel so purchased this on the back of some good reviews and very pleased I did. It made a long job much quicker and neater, you just need to get the mixture right. I don’t think it matters what ratio you use providing it is very loose, much more than I thought to begin with and as some have said it needs to be like thick cream or custard, just before the point where it would drain out with gravity. The only negative point is that water does drip out easily which left cement marks on the slabs, but providing you wipe up as you go it shouldn’t be a real problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pointing made easy Well made product at a great price. Very easy to control. You must use plasticiser or washing up liquid. You must make the mix like very soft butter. After that enjoy easy fast pointing with no mess or waste. Brilliant. Wish I had tried this years ago!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reasonable job done for novice The gun is supplied with two flat pointing nozzles,a long thin nozzle for paving slabs i presume and a spare piston. It all goes together easily. I used a soft sand and cement based mixture with the correct amount of plasticiser - not too firm, not too sloppy. The speed of mortar delivery has to be mastered with the trigger action and how quickly one moves the nozzle across the mortar line. The result was acceptable and pleasing. The mortar mix became hard to extrude at the end of the cylinder so i had to unscrew the barrel nozzle and eject the contents into a container and add a little water before reusing it. A bucket of water and brush is handy to clean the gun during use and when dismantling and reassembling. The threads on the cylinder can be kept clean with a wipe from a wet cloth before screwing up. A good steady jollop feed into the brickwork can be finished off with a pointing tool, trowel or piece of hosepipe to the desired pointing style. It worked, the result looks reasonable for a first attempt and the tool was easily handled whilst up a ladder.
