Rated 3 out of 5 by from RAC battery charger 2 yrs old and its knackered, and been used about 6 times, what a waste of hard earned money, i still have my old 4 amp charger from 45 yrs ago and that still works, thought i was buying a good charger how wrong i was, and according to other reviews i am not on my own,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped working Looks and feels good, but stopped working. 15 amo fuse is fine and get a green light for power but won't charge (i.e amber light). the battery is new but flat - shouldn't be a problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good. Well firstly please read my review on the previous charger I purchased, a cheap one which failed on second use. I required a battery charger for home use which amounts, for me, very occasional use. I have been charging batteries for 50 years using a home made charger with volt and amp analogue meters and never had any problems and you could clearly see what was going on. With the cheap LED indicator charger I bought first you can not really see if it is not charging and this wasted a lot of time. I do not have access to my existing charger which is why I bought a cheap one. So next I have gone for one with a meter so I can see what is going on. Although poor review on here good reviews elsewhere. Followed the instructions and had no problems charging the first battery from flat the meter showing the charging current. Then charged the flat battery in the car and again very reassuring to actually be able to see the actual charging current so you know it is definitely charging. Normally I see little point in reviewing a just bought item which is the only reason I haven't rated "reliability". So my recommendation is spend more to obtain a charger with at least one analogue meter so you are absolutely confident that charging is actually taking place. So far so good with this charger but only time will tell if it is reliable when I come to use it next time which will not be for some time. The price at SF was very good compared to elsewhere. The cost per charging amp was good this is a 12A charger and, following the instructions, I was using it at 12A for some time on both batteries. It is fitted with a 15A output fuse and comes with one spare fuse. Modern chargers contain battery sensing solid state circuitry so will not necessarily "see" a dead flat battery. The battery must have about 1.5V residual voltage for the charger to work.
