Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality plastic, poor design Good quality plastic and easy to install but the draught flap taps away constantly in the wind. Could do with being ever so slightly more weighted and some rubber/foam stoppers. Problem solved with a bit of tape.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK but hard to install The description doesn't make it clear but this does have a flap built in which is what you want for a dryer or extractor fan. It can be removed if you're trying to let air into the house rather than out but then you'd need something to stop the bugs getting in, probably some mesh on the inside of the wall. Hard to install because if you don't get the wall perfectly flat and plumb, the flap won't cover the hole correctly and any breeze will either get into the house or make the flap bounce which makes an annoying noise. Shame because I already had that problem with the flap vents. Looks fine on the wall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to fit I had no trouble fitting this and it worked perfectly with the inline extractor fan I had bought which is probably the most powerful of its class on the market. I read others reviews of this cowl before purchasing and made my own mind up, I had no trouble with anything breaking or falling apart, I think the trick may be to be patient and not to force anything as its plastic. After removing the cover with a slight squeeze to the sides, the cowl was fitted to a white pipe (Screwfix item: 15872) with a few small stainless self tappers. The pipe passed through a 110mm hole drilled in the gable end cavity wall of the attic which left ample material to drill fixing holes for red no: 8 plugs and screws. The unit works flawlessly if fitted level, correctly and not over tightened so as to distort. Its of light plastic construction so does not need to be over engineered in the way of fixing. A small bead of clear silicone was applied to the top, bottom and sides to stop insects such as earwigs or ladybirds finding their way through the brickwork pointing and making nests behind the plastic.
