Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makita belt sander DIYer level This is a heavy belt sander that is very powerful. Bought to sand down an area of repaired parquet flooring. Started with 80 grit and progressed to 120 grit. This machine did the job without any real effort. It is only let down by the poor quality dust collection bag. This leaks dust from the neck and needs emptying well before it is any where near to 1/4 full. The material it is made from is so thin just touching it causes it to vent dust. Make sure you have dust mask and a good vacuum to hand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good buy Used click and collect so didn't have to wait long. Machine is well made and its weight should be a help while in use. Being able to use it upside down is a bonus. Not used long enough to see how reliable it will be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent choice I bought this through Click & Collect and it arrived on time. This is a great and convenient way for me to be able to buy. The sander itself is very robust and well made - so far I have absolutely no complaints and am sure I made the right choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Belting Belt Sander I reviewed many machines prior to buying this machine. The recurrent use of the phrase "its a beast" convinced me to try it as I needed to strip the face of a 300 year old oak beam with nails in it. What a good choice, with the grade 40 belt the planner removed significant wood and nail head every stroke of the timber. With the nail heads polished I could remove them and get down to powerplaning the required face off the wood and then finish it with 60, 80 and 120 grade belts. I could have made furniture with the wood the finish was that good. It was not a job to rush but all the time you knew you were getting closer and all thanks to the workhorse that is the Makita M9400 belt sander. The extra inch width (4") pays dividends and the machine power is sufficient to transfer all the power to the belt. I would recommend it despite only having it a few days, its worked every day and never overheated after hours of use and it does the job of much more expensive machines.
