LightwaveRF TRV is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value for money Easy to setup, no plumbing. Works like a charm! I can highly recommend this system, it integrates well with their other devices and the app is super user friendly

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointing As a plumber I thought it was a great idea to have wireless control over each radiator in the house and as we already had Lightwave dimmer switches fitted, it seemed logical to add the heating controls and have it all under one app. I installed the room thermostat and boiler switch to our combi-boiler and a Lightwave TRV to every radiator in the house. The idea was to be able to set the nursery to a comfortable 18' whilst my wife and I prefer a cooler room at night and would only want our radiator to come on just before we get up in the morning or if the temperature dropped dramatically. Also to be able to control the conservatory radiator separately so that we only heat the huge column radiator when we want to use the room. Unfortunately most of the time we'd get an "error sending command" message when trying to use the app to turn the TRV on/off or set a desired temperature, so often in fact that we had absolutely no confidence that the TRV's had worked and would have to check them manually, completely negating the point of the wireless TRV! The TRV often move without being given a command and even when their status has been turned off they will turn themselves on. We have often come home to find our conservatory very warm and the cats extremely happy even though I'd checked to make sure the conservatory TRV status was off when I had turned on the other rooms in the house prior to coming home. The update to the Lightwave app had the welcome addition of Call For Heat, but that was short lived when our 6 month old baby would get woken up when the nursery TRV valve incorrectly read the room temperature as lower than it actually was and would fire up the heating and make the room too hot! My wife and I would also wake up when our room got extremely hot despite having turned our TRV off or set very low. As a plumber I often get asked for advice on smart TRV and recommendations but I can't recommend Lightwave heating controls having installed them in my own house and being constantly disappointed with them. The lightwave room thermostat and boiler switch worked fine as a manual control with only a slight delay triggering the boiler when using the app, but then we found we were unable to delete a previously set up schedule. It won't show up in the Automation section of the app so it won't allow us to delete it. Only removing the batteries from the thermostat and unlinking if from the Link Plus would work but we shouldn't have to do that every time we want to temporarily/permanently disable a heating schedule. After being woken up at silly times of the morning to find the rooms roasting I've now had to return to a Hive thermostat and boiler control because we can at least rely on it to turn off when it reaches the desired temperature and won't come on randomly during the night. The lighting products work absolutely fine, and Gen 2 products being advertised as compatible with Apply HomeKit was a big draw but it's such a shame that the heating side is such a spectacular failure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from works well, but... I bought 3 valves when they were released onto the market (2 years ago?). They cannot be used in bedrooms unless you don't mind the noise. If you look on some of the forums some people have taken them to bits and made them quieter using grease - but they should be quiet in the first place. I use 2 in the Kitchen and 1 in a playroom. They work pretty well with the WiFi link and the IOS App. I use rechargeable batteries which need to be cycled about once per month (the app tells you about low battery). 1 of the Valves has recently stopped working - I think it gummed up so am going to take it apart to find out why. My biggest disappointment with the lightwave RF system is actually that even though the valves have 2 way communication, they cannot "call for heat" from the boiler even after you've installed lightwave RF stats and boiler switches - if the main boiler is OFF (due to the Lightwave Stat thinking its warm enough) and the valve wants to heat a room - it can't. Using the zoning, I found that I had cold rooms when I wanted to heat them because the zone that the stat is in is already warm enough! I have worked round this problem by installing 2 Lightwave RF thermostats and 2 boiler switches in parallel. But even then the Stats in the room don't communicate with the valves in the room. The fabled room stat which is meant to control multiple valves in one room has never been released. The lightwave RF heating system feels like it is a project that never quite got finished (perhaps they ran out of money) - it was released a year late and didn't have all the features it was meant to. That said you can make it work with the above caveats, but there are probably better options out there now!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very disappointed Despite other bad reviews I thought I'd give these ago as the other LightwaveRF products are really good. However all I can say is save your money, despite having the latest version of the Firmware they are still very noisy and seem to randomly fire up. I had one in the bedroom which was removed the following day as it woke us up the other two were in the lounge and again they have been removed because of the noise, very disapointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lightwave TRV THe specification soundfs good but sadly thats where it ends. They just dio noyt live up to trhe specification. Even with the expensive Lightwave app they do not work properly

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lets the Lightwave brand down I have quite a few Lightwave products and for the most part they are very good. This product is the exception. The valves frequently fail either fully closed (cold room) or fully open (boiling hot room). Given that I bought them to save heating rooms I don't use in the morning, they have been a total waste of money. Sometimes the rooms are hotter than they would be with a standard TRV. Batteries run out quickly, even quality brands. Avoid.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Try a different product These valves are way too noisy given how much they cost. They are prone to unscheduled activity (coffee grinder noise as valve changes position when no activity programmed) often in the middle of the night in bedrooms. They are unable to make a demand of the boiler so are beholden to the also flaky room thermostat and boiler switch I'm and early adopter and have nine of these in my house and am looking for an alternate to Lightwave for bespoke control of my household heating. An expensive lesson for me which is why I wrote this review. After some tedious initial teething problems the LightwavreRF light controls are now acceptable. The heating controls are 'in my opinion' not ready for the market.
