Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful for the hard to access Purchased this morning and used most of the day and have to say, it has been very useful. I understand the negative reviews as spent 10-15 minutes (there are no instructions) wondering what a complete piece of junk! Like others, i tried to use the saw but the blade slipped. The secret seems to be to remove the holding nut and turn it round and screw it in from the opposite side. It holds the blade in place perfectly then. Since doing this, it has not slipped at all. Got to add though, if this is the way the saw is intended to be used, then include some instructions indicating this then there would not be so much negative feedback

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good little tool but... Bought this tool to cut plastic waste pipe in a very confined space. The blade Was so thin and weak unable to use it. The tool itself was sturdy and would work in tight spaces very well with a better blade. If you buy this tool you will will have a great tool for confined spaces as long as you buy a better blade

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design/not Irwin quality Unfortunately I had to return this product as it is very badly designed and therefore does not hold the blades properly with the silly little cross head screw clamp design. I found no matter how hard I tightened the clamp screw I could not make it grip the blade properly and the minute you put some effort into cutiing a thin bit of sheet metal the blade just slipped in the clamp! Sadly I had to return it the same day. The Bahco 208 has a much better design and works brilliantly in comparison - you get what you pay for I guess as the Bahco is more pricey but does actually work!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does exactly what it should Perfect tool when you drill through a pipe and need to cut a piece out when buried in wall! Only down side but could be a positive in different situation is that the blade can come through the bottom of the handle which can hurt when you didn't realise it did!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy tool I needed a pad saw for a particular job and came across this hacksaw in the Screwfix catalogue. It's a handy tool to have in the workshop as it can be used two-handed and get into awkward places.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Utter rubbish I've thoroughly given up on Irwin products now, this being the last straw (the last saws I bought were blunt within a day or two's use and their pipe bender is identical to the no-brand Chinese ones, just with a different colour). The idea is great, the execution is somewhat less so - no matter how hard you tighten the screw, the blade slips out almost constantly on the cutting stroke. I ended up giving up and using the blade on its own with a bit of duct tape wrapped around for a handle - got the job done in less than half the time I had already wasted trying to get this thing to work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good. Paid extra for the Irwin branded saw but what a disappointment. Stripped the thread on the tightening mechanism with only minimal torque the first time I used it. Returning for a refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Usefull tool I was really stuck on a job with no space to work with a normal saw tried tin snips but was getting desperate. This tool did the job where others had failed good quality and handy tool in my arsenal.
