Gate Castor 102mm is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product A great quality, robust castor which supports a heavy metal gate with ease and runs smoothly over a slightly uneven driveway. Fitted easily and tidily to gate.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs more work 10 / 10 for the idea. fantastic in principle. Used two on a pair of large wooden gates. First problem, fixing. used screws but with the holes being inline with the bar you cannot get a screwdriver in to tighten the screws properly. Fair enough a right angle screwdriver. you ever put 2 of 60 X 6 mm wood screw in with a right angle screwdriver ? Not fun. so after two days, the mount has worked its way into the wood a little and now the castor is catching on the wood . Make the mounting plate wider with 4 holes as per SMITH & LOCKE SPRING-LOADED ANIMAL BOLT ZINC-PLATED 230MM and move the castor at least an additional 5mm further away from the mount. Ideal item if the castor is totally below the gate .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Let down by little flaws Overall not a bad castor for a lighter or medium weight gate. The springs a little too weak really for a heavier gate. The finish is excellent and the wheel is solid and we'll make. HOWEVER The play in the castors mount allows the wheel to slop in and tough the gate during travel. Despite the mount. It runs against the gate and jams up. This is sorted by mounting a thick washer or two between the bracket and the gate. But it just shouldn't happen. Shame too because they are great when they work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Take the weight Fitted to metal farm gate. Did a great job of taking the weight off the hinges.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I needed I had a pair of heavy gates fitted a couple of hrs ago, but over time they dropped in the middle so I fitted these and they really work well only thing is they are a little two big but what the they work and now the gates open well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Take the weight off. Customer had a heavy gate regularly used by children who struggled to open it. Fitted one of these under slight tension and the problem literally disappeared instantly. Children now push it open and ride it closed again. Cracking piece of kit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Bought caster for rear gates and followed fellow reviewers guide and compressed spring slightly before fitting. The play/tolerance between the centre spindle and the mounting bracket was so great that under tension the wheel now rests against and rubs the gate, not pivoting and creating excess friction between gate and roller, so rubbing off the protective paint I applied to the gate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quality Castor I bought one of these to support the weight of a large wooden gate that had a tendency to drop over time. This castor is well made and the large diameter wheel means that it runs well, even over my gravelled driveway. If you want the castor to take the weight of the gate (rather than just act as a guide) you will need to compress the spring before fitting. The amount of compression will depend on the weight of the gate and I clamped it in place first to get the right amount of compression, then used a cable tie (see photo) to lock it before marking and drilling the holes. Once fitted cut the tie. The holes in the fixing bracket are a snug fit on an M10 bolt, which will prevent it from sliding upwards over time. The swivel bearing is open at the sides, so I would recommend that you grease it up with a thick grease to prevent corrosion. I am pleased to say that it has done the job nicely, so no more sagging gates!
