Fischer Self-Drill Plasterboard Fixings Metal 35mm 100 Pack is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 85.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fixing. Use these a lot for surface fixings to stud walls. Great mounts for heavy pictures, mirrors etc.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor product from Fischer I'm normally a big fan of Fischer fixings - they're generally easy to use, consistent, extremely reliable and never fail. However, I've had nothing but problems with these. As others have said, I find they have a tendency to walk rather than drill in centrally. I've found placing more pressure on to try and keep them central results in the tips snapping off because they're such a poor quality cast alloy. Drilling a pilot hole makes positioning simpler, but then I find they twist in the wall when the screw is tightened, even to low torque by hand. This leaves a 15mm hole to fix. I also find the supplied screws are poor quality metal and the heads deform easily. I can only assume these are bought in and rebadged by Fischer as they certainly don't perform as well or feel as well engineered or manufactured as their other products. Avoid if possible - depending what you're hanging, I'd recommend EasyFix hollow wall anchors and setting tool (or Fischer equivalent which sadly Screwfix don't stock), especially for heavy duty stuff. Do it right - do it once.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Secure fixing Easy to fix into plasterboard. Fitted to dry lining easily . Some positions closer to the solid wall than others, but these fixings were able to cut into the blocks as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small, versatile and strong I've used these fittings since they came onto the market for numerous jobs including Floating Shelves, Curtain Rails, Wall Brackets etc. Providing you are sensible with the amount of weight you hang on them they are a really good fixing. I have a few tips which may or not be helpful. 1. Always drill a small pilot hole to allow the self drilling end to fit into, as they have a tendency to 'walk' off the intended position when you try to screw them in, even if you tap them first. It also helps to prevent the fitting from tipping over as you screw it in, so avoiding damaged walls or fingers and a wonky fit. 2. Apply pressure when screwing the fitting into the wall otherwise the plasterboard breaks away and you end up with a weak fitting and a lump on the wall. 3. A spot of lubricant of some kind on the screw helps prevent binding when tightening, and the tendency for the fitting to unscrew itself from the wall when removing the screw. In all a great fitting. Just be wary of how much weight you are expecting it to hold.
