Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new friend. Never used a belt sander so wasn't prepared to pay over the top for one, needed to do a few skirting boards and thought I may have to bin it after for the price I paid but it served its purpose and now back in the box waiting for the next bit of diy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best pencil sharpener by far You heard it. It's a bit noisy but as a value industrial grade pencil sharpener it's the shizt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good budget tool excellent quality for the price. sanding a rough sawn bit of timber this tool made short work of removing quite a large volume of wood.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hmmmm...... Heavy and lopsided. This means you must hold it in a position which requires you to bear the weight of the machine to ensure even wear on the belt in spite of using the detachable plate. This can set up uncomfortable vibration. No finesse on the belt tracking. The only way to prevent excessive travel on the belt is to work with the machine facing you so that you can watch the sanding belt and adjust, adjust, adjust. Having a 'knob' rather than a u-shaped front handle makes this an uncomfortable method of keeping some control. This appears to be a machine which doesn't want to run for much more than 15 minutes at a time before the sanding belts begin to clog the rollers. A useful feature would be for the drive roller to be capable of free running when there is no power so that it can be cleaned of the crud which builds and solidifies on it during use. It's enormously time consuming to clean this machine between the short sessions in which it is actually working. As with all power tools, this one should be started with no load and at the lowest power setting before gradually increasing the power in order that the sanding belts and drive belt warm up. All that said, it is a powerful sander, just not fast when you take cooling down time and cleaning time into consideration. For that reason I have 2 belt sanders (the other is from one of the discount supermarkets) so that I can increase the volume of work done in the hours I have spare to do the sanding.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not reliable enough This sander has decent performance, but only when it feels like working. It seems to have enough power, and some decent adjustment for sanding depth. The belts will last all of 2 minutes, unless you constantly adjust the belt alighnment literally every 10 seconds. The dust collector is pointless, as in the 10 minutes of runtime I got from the sander before all the supplied sanding belts broke, along with the drive belt, and some damage to the face of the tool, it managed to collect exactly 1 microgram of dust. I'll be returning for a refund, and coughing out a bit more for a tool with a decent name, as this is certainly an instance where it's worth it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Get what you pay for. I had to return my first one as the belt changing lever broke on the second belt change. Ok sander otherwise. Nice that it's variable speed and 800w.
