Energenie MiHome In-Line Relay 3kW is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple and effective The relay is simple to install. I am using it to switch my oil fired boiler on and off. I think the terminals are labelled wrong on the printed instruction sheet. But I swapped the input an output around and it worked correctly. It paired with the Hub very easily. I am still learning how to make best use of the limited features on the hub. I have not got the geofencing to work yet. But it works when I want to switch heating on or off remotely

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK for me, but reservations I got this to replace a faulty mechanical time switch used to control an immersion heater. I already have the Hub. This unit was £10 cheaper than a replacement timeswitch. Incidentally, the location is in a separate cupboard from the water tank, so there is no concern over the operating temperature. There is also a 13A fuse already in the circuit, which is a requirement. As with other reviewers, I am somewhat surprised that the power cables are not enclosed in the unit. So if the wires have been poorly attached there is some risk of bare wires being exposed or pulled out if the cables are yanked. The unit is somewhat smaller than a normal socket or switch. The fixing holes are very small and I would think could easily be broken e.g. by using large screws. Fixing screws were not supplied in the package. I cannot comment on reliability as I've only just fitted it. I would have preferred a unit that sends feedback so I know that it is working, but so far so good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product at a budget Got this to control a ceiling fan. Easy to install and pair to the remote. The hub was a bit trickier as the setup didn't have an option for relays. Use the single simple plug in socket for this. Works perfectly. Only thing may have made it better would have been normally closed terminal but the uses for that are limited so no great loss.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Near impossible to install ok They aren't suitable for installation outside of an enclosure due to terminals being exposed, the mounting tabs are misleading. They also hardly fit into a 1g box, nor a 35mm deep box as the button at the front will be pressed. So only solution is in large adaptable box or a 47mm double. I'm yet to energise and actually use it, but these are a nightmare to fit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good relay but bad mounting I've already got a load of MiHome smart sockets so getting a relay to control a towel rail seemed like an obvious thing to do. But whilst it works, this relay is designed to be tucked away rather than attached to a wall. I imagined it would fit into a standard UK single socket which would mean it's a safe replacement for the old controller. But it's not really a safe thing to do, it's a bit strange since there is a button on the front to sync it to the hub or turn on/off so you'd expect it to be easily accessible (and safely secure in a box). It would be good in an airing cupboard or for any use that would mean it's tucked away. Just a strange way to supply something that can switch a 3k load (which suggests it was probably only ever aimed at controlling an immersion heater). I'll probably keep the relay anyway as I'm sure I'll find a use for external lighting or something, but it's not something to control a towel rail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great with a few caveats. Using this in a cottage I rent out. Previously, regardless of whether anybody was or was not staying at the cottage, the hot water would come, onmfor an hour in the morning and an hour at night. Now, I can kill the heating when I know nobody is staying, saving me unnecessary heating bills. Early days, so I can't really comment on the reliability. Also, I knocked acouple of stars off for features. I doubt the wiring for this meets UK standards. No cable clamps or cover. Wires screw in from underneath, with no earthing point. I rigged up a cover and the relay is in a locked cupboard, so I can live with that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Valve control I replaced a broken heating time-switch with 2 relays and it works perfectly.
