Rated 4 out of 5 by from Actually does work! I was very sceptical when I bought and installed this device. And it's taken me awhile to convince myself of its effect. But, two months after installing it, surprisingly, I am prepared to say that it actually seems to work! We have exceptionally hard water, and everything furs up constantly. But I would say that the daily amount of limescale that I rinse out of the kettle is now probably about a quarter of what it used to be.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to fit. Bought as my boiler always seems to need an annual de-scale. Recommended by my service guy to reduce the build up of scale - time will tell but at less than the cost of a de-scale it is worth a try.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1 day in Having used something similar before, I fitted this yesterday. Having to clean out 10.5kw shower head everyday & desperate. 1st day and shower already changed tone, running smoother , running clean. Should have fitted one 3 years ago. Exceptionally high Limescale area and as stated, these don't remove limescale but they do change its structure so it no longer hardens and collects in heating elements causing major problems and big lumps of scale to block shower heads, kettle filters etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I hope it works I have only just bought and fitted this item so I have no idea yet how it will perform and for how long. I bought it to try to improve the amount of hard limescale being deposited in all the appliances that use water around the house so that hopefully the life of them will be extended. I don't expect it to improve the revolting taste of the water in my area - I will continue to use Brita type filters for all cooking and drinking water. It was simple to fit and the enclosed instructions were perfectly adequate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes they do work I bought one of these about 15 years ago and it as been working ever since. I was sceptical at first and only bought it as an experiment but it does reduce scale. There is a thin covering of scale in the kettle but it doesn't build up. My last washing machine lasted 27 years and only failed due to the case rusting away. Please note it will not stop scale build up where water deposits evaporate (shower screens, tap spouts, draining boards, etc). It conditions the water so the scale doesn't settle out, it doesn't remove the scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brill item Fitted a week ago on the incoming cold water main as we have hard water.A glass of water used to taste awfull.also we had to empty the kettle every time for a brew as if you reheat same water it tastes bad. These two problems have now gone.As for the lime scale on taps and shower valves/screens etc only time will tell.If it increases the life of the heating elements on dishwasher/washing machine etc then even better.Been able to just have a decent brew and drink the tap water is enough for me to believe it is doing something.Happy days.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's doing something. If it's any help to those who might well ask.. "Is it doing anything?" (beyond the fancy row of red running lights that is..). Well it's doing something. Checking the output there is a semi-random multi-level rectangular type waveform fed to the coils. It changes about a little but has 16 levels and a pulse period of 20 uS with an approximate repeat every 400 uS. I couldn't measure amplitude since I was only measuring it with my phone. How this compares to other similar devices on the market I couldn't say. I will say that I have faith in the passive "electrolytic" through-flow devices which do work. I'm in a hard water area and have used an old Scalewatcher (Conceptually similar to this BWT device but now broken). I believe the Scalewatcher was helping with the shower it was feeding.
