Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great drill Bought this drill to replace an ageing drill and this new drill is so much more powerfull Makes drilling walls easy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK drill and made in China now OK drill, no better than my old. The gearbox is worse than the old one, it will not always go straight through from 1to3 or 3 to 1. The clutch is not as easy to adjust as the old drill, it is inconsistent when screwing to a depth. ZU Chuck is OK but will loosen itself if you run the drill fast and stop it quickly. The ability to keep the light on is a good feature. I have not noticed better battery life using my old drill batteries. I have not performed a suitable test either. My drills before were made in UK, then Germany, then Eastern Europe and now PRC. People we are finished.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful but controlled This drill is very powerful but controlled. At first its a bit strange because the torque limiter varies the speed of the drill.. ie. set to 1, on speed 1 is very slow, but on say 6 (still speed 1) will spin faster. When you used to it - it makes a lot of sense. The clutch is also different; unlike the normal drills where you get a continuous clicking noise when you torque-out, this drill simply kills the power. The other day this was important because we were cutting a very large hole in some steel. We had the torque setting set to something like 6, and the cutter did get stuck. However because the torque limiter was on, it killed the power instead of twisting out-of-my hand, or making loads of noise. It has a lot of power, driving in 4-6" screws into wood (without pilots) - not that I recommend doing that normally. It is also fairly good at drilling into concrete, as a get-me-out-of-jail - as it wont replace SDS, great when you need to drill a 5-6mm hole. All-in-all a very good drill, with a heck of a lot of torque!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast of a drill I bought this drill as my other drill packed up. All my other kit was Milwaukee but I have slowly been moving over to Dewalt kit because it seems to have more grunt about them. Anyway, the drill. Very solid feel in the hand and well balanced even though it has a little weight to it. The 3 speed settings is perfect. Setting 1 is great for starting off drilling a tile and when in the third setting it is in my opinion, no different than a mains drill. It flew thought a 3” wooden joist with a 25mm spade bit and the bit wasn’t particularly sharp. I do like the electronic clutch on it. Rather that clicking like others do, it kind of acts like the battery is dead. When you are drilling with a fairly bit bit I would advise using the side hand because when in drill mode it has a lot of torque before the clutch kicks in. I know my wrist can tell you that. On the whole a brilliant drill and would definitely recommend it. It’s a little steep on the price side but it was worth the extra money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Drill This is an uprated version of the 995, the upgrades are more torque an excellent three mode light switch and bigger drilling capacities, With the three speeds you have more control drilling different materials. It is only a few mm wider considering it has a bigger motor (a beastie 830W). On the confusing side the manual says speed three is 2250 RPM while the drill data plate says 2000 RPM after some silver surfing and phone calls it turns out the speed three 2250 RPM is only achieved when in hammer mode without hammer it's 2000 RPM. Hope this helps
