Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, but missing one item on the spec. Really happy with the performance of this unit. It rips and presion cuts with ease. One thing I wish the 'bare unit' description included was the fact a T18 165mm blade came include. I bought extras and I didn't have to. This annoyed me a bit as I could have saved a few euro.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light, powerful and fast Purchased this a month ago as an upgrade to a corded circular saw. Idea was to add it as addition to the Bosch 18V-Li tools already have so cheaper price for "bare" version was a attractive. Few things that I didn't first even consider, the side of the blade. There are left and right sided blades, and this is left side. For decades I have been using right sided circular saws so it came as surprised how I didn't realize this is left side, even when I noticed it to be so in the image. First few hours it was a problem for me as I continually was trying to saw from left to right, instead right to left, but I got over the old habit. And now I prefer this left side version because I have tool in my right hand that is more accurate and left hand is free to hold the piece. One of the few things that I tested as to saw a 2x4 with the blade that was included with the saw and found it very effective to do the crosscuts as the ripping without problems. Really surprised me about the speed how quickly it could "bite" to the wood and just keep going even at the max cutting depth (about 51mm). Then I attached the new purchased Makita 1.6mm wide tooth blade to this, what has 1mm thickness. The locking bolt doesn't get 100% tightness for it, so you need to add a "washer" to outside of the blade to get it tightened well. Just remember that do not overtighten the blade to saw motor as it works as well safety feature if there is going to happen a sudden kickback, as it is the blade that will get free, instead saw to twist your arm and get loosen from the wood or ruin it. Other way is to use thicker blades than 1 millimeter, like the Bosch 1.7 mm blades that has no play what so ever. That 1 mm blade does have just little bit play, maybe a 0.1-0.2 mm worth so you can do good cuts with it, but it can bend at deep cuts then if you don't get it with washer in. The switch to 1.6 mm tooth fine tooth blade as huge thing, the saw does effortless and very fine resulting cuts, with no sanding required if you get the cut go straight. I put the saw in first use to test this by having a 79 mm thick lumber that I needed to cut with 42 degree angle, so I needed to do cut from both sides. And I did it with 2-3 passes by each time cutting deeper. The challenge was to get the two cuts from both sides to be seamless, and from four elements I got all three so that no need for planing or sanding what so ever. So if you get your saw slide set correctly, the saw will cut exactly straight even with 1mm thick blade that has that minor playing. The saw depth setting is very easy to use. This comes very handy so many times when you just need to cut a board that is over material that you should not touch. So it is easy just to set the saw on the material and raise leveler, drop blade tooths below board and lock. And doing multiple different thickness and passes, it was logical way to adjust. The saw has a holder for the needed allen key for blade switching. Found it just after few blade changes. The locking of the blade is easy and it goes nicely, what now just little checking with blades that has thicker tooths so they don't hang inside the blade shield. I don't yet have 4 Ah batteries from Bosch, just the 2 Ah and 1.5 Ah. I read about it requiring a 4 Ah and made a order for two. But I found that both 1.5 and 2 Ah batteries doesn't have problems to cut even maximum depth and quickly even. Only that you will run out the power more quickly. With 1.5 Ah battery I think I got 9-12 cuts done that were 2440 mm long, 45 mm thick. With a 2 Ah battery I got about 30% more as you could do the math, so about 14-17 cuts. I think the thin 1.6mm tooth blade did it much easier as it removes so much less material than a 2.2mm toothed blade does. I expect the 4 Ah battery to do far more as it has more cells to give more power at the same time. I used the saw all the time just with a one hand. First things that I made was a new saw rail/slide for the Makita blade. And the saw is very light for one hand use. But that has its problem too, as once you are cutting against a saw rail, you easily stretch your hand too far from your body so you can tilt the front side of the saw out of the rail, meaning you will cut inwards little bit and requires couple extra pass at the end. So either stay close to the saw or make a rail that doesn't allow saw to move away from the support. I found that buying the 165mm diameter blades is difficult. You can get larger ones more easily. So you are limiting yourself for that. It came to my mind to try does ie. 170mm or 175mm blades fit to it by its blade shield and guard, but it needs to wait as I take saw to store try different sizes. If I would improve something in the saw, one is the tilting angle scale. It is now rough and doesn't really give you the accuracy you would need in fine cutting. Why you might need to use a tool to get angle from material and then set the blade angle for it. Not a big deal as that is anyways only way to be 100% sure you have correct angle. This said based how to cut 42 degree angle instead 45 degree with higher than a 0.5 degree accuracy. The other thing is to have a safety override feature to lock the blade guard to up position. This is one drawback in all saws really as sometimes the blade guard just doesn't slide up as the support or the material is such a way that you need to manually hold the guard up to start. That is a safety problem for fingers as you take your hand so close to that saw blade, and even if your thigh is in danger at that moment, it would be safer to begin. A some kind mechanism to get the blade guard stay up with right hand or release with after you get the blade started cutting. I have always disliked how you need to hold those so often that just would like to see a "temporal hold" mechanism there with right hand and release it. It is little sad that this saw didn't come with option to get it with corresponding L-Boxx from Bosch. Just a cardboard but it would be at least nice to get option to buy that separately to get it moved with other Bosch tools, at least get choice to get the inlet for correct size box. So after a month of use I really like the saw. Its main limitations are its 51 mm cut depth (not checked is it little more actually) in 90 degree and less when 45 degree angle. But that is what you need to consider. Now it became my go-to tool when it comes even to go get some lumber from storage or from warehouse, as it is so light and small to carry and take with you and then just cut all the pieces to rough sizes on-site before moving them inside for fine measurement cutting. I don't compare this to other brands that are offering more powerful or capable saws (power corded or cordless, or more than 51 mm cutting depth) such a way as this definitely doesn't lack the power to do full depth cuts, doesn't cause slow downs as long you have well charged battery (that 4 Ah is recommended, but even 1.5 Ah will do the work for most cases if there is not too much material to do be cut). I must admit that I really like this saw, so much that I prefer it to table saw in many cases. As the working table and the table saw are different tables, it takes always time to move the lumber to another table, and not it is just easier without cable hassle to slide a couple long pieces under the work as spacer or move the work to edge of table and then use this saw to do the cut. Anyways it is safer than using a table saw for larger and longer pieces, when you don't need that table saw own features. The cordless feature is the main huge dealer and how it is so powerful regardless it is battery powered. Should have updated to cordless circular saw earlier and happy now, regardless who is the manufacturer. And now I really like about being able to see the saw blade as it is on left side, not on the right side as I am right handed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light ideal for quick jobs I have a disability and my mains powered saw is uncomfortably heavy, as a DIYer it barely gets used but occasionally you need to cut a sheet of ply. I bought this as it was half the weight of my old saw and I already have Bosch drills and impact drivers so plenty of battery’s I used 1.5 and 2 amp/hour packs It’s not mega powerful but works extremely well I used it to cut 6x2 pressure treated timber not easily but much quicker than a jig saw

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tool Barebones means Barebones For the money I'd have liked a plastic box, hence no full maks. Brilliant performance for battery saw, a great compliment to the rest of my Bosch tools. Love the immediate stop on trigger release Blade guard is plastic and feels flimsy but works fine. Supplied blade cuts quick and clean. Work light or laser would have made it perfect

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and easy to handle. This is a vast improvement on my old Titan. I put a Freud 40T blade in it and it cuts like butter, love the fast stop and how quiet it operates as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply an amazing bit of kit Wished I’d have bought one sooner, the fact it’s cordless is great but the performance from this saw is amazing, great for working where power is limited but I will probably use this over the corded version all the time, get a decent battery, a 4.0 ideally!
