Acova TAG-150-086-S Wall-Mounted Oil-Filled Convector Heater 1500W is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oil radiators am liking them The design is modern. The price expensive more than the electric ones of the same design... My wife insisted we get them... The set up of these radiators take a while to line up straight and level off. Hanging them is easy once the line up is done. We had plaster boards so not as easy to fix but adapted the plaster screws with washers to accomondate, which I'll explain below. We had trouble with the fixing so got a screw driver to make the hole in the plaster board saving us the money on the other similar type with the setting tool, then pushed the Screwfix rawlplug Hollow Wall Anchors M4 x 40mm 20 Pack home into the hole, got the bracket and the screw part of the rawlplug then pushed the bracket and the screw into the rawlplug in the wall until it bit and was tight. Then screwed it home until the wings opened. We put three each side as no wall screws came with the radiator and the rawlplug screws not big enough to hold in top and bottom so we went into the smaller holes in middle of the bracket. (The first attempt we made a larger hole in the plaster board thinking that the rawlplug would do its job straight away but it didn't it caused a larger hole wizzing round but we made use of this hole by using a washer a little larger, carefully taking into consideration the thickness of the washer between the rawlplug and bracket to get the hold, (this saved many holes in the plaster board). The controls are simple, Eco mode is the Quarter Moon. This works out cheaper to use. We used comfort mode full Sun which works out a bit dearer and hotter. Snow Flake is frost protection. Clock is for the controller which doesn't come with these and not sold at Screwfix. (Possible get one from France and Acova website) or put a timer on the 13A plug. *Important:- issolate the black controller wire by taping it off away from the other wires *Do not wire this in any where especially the earth you will blow it all up... We plugged the live and nutral into a 13A plug and had immediate heat. We haven't had it long enough to comment on durability or performance but so far very pleased with it. We timed it one hour at Eco full blast it came on our smart meter about 20p as of November 2017 it was hot, the area we covered was 16ft x 11.5 plus open kitchen 8.4 x 6.5 and we have the 1500kw model. (*The 2000kw will need to be hard wired and 13A fused connector and not plugged straight in but hard wired in. This is simple to do if you understand about the wiring of an rcu...13A connection unit. Single one if off the ring or double if continuing on the ring. Radiators of under 1500kw will need 3A fuse.) Its my wife who did the washer idea and all the research so "do your research do not just rely on what we are saying." All in all as DIY'ers we are very pleased at this point, after turn off it still continues one and a half hours later. Gosh whats not to like .... They are a lot more money than electric ones to buy same design but the oil ones last a lot longer when switched off as they keep the heat (Probably why the price of them) ... We might review this again in a few months or so if we get any issues with it.
