12" Dovetail Jig is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from dovetail jig Excellent intro to dovetail joints; once the calculations are made, set up and operation are straightforward. Unfortunately the template is very fragile and spares should be available.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not fit for it's purpose. After reading the reviews i decided to buy one, I wasn't expecting much and knew it would be time consuming to set up but after trying it I'm convinced those good reviews below are either screwfix staff or people so arrogant they want us to think they are so clever they got it to work. After several hours of constant adjustment and cutting trial joints I realised the template was moving as I cut, it doesn't matter how tight you lock it, it's just too badly made. Threads are so loose the handles vibrate loose and there's so much slack that any adjustments you make will be lost the second you touch anything. The cam lock moves the wood out of position when u tighten, more to the point - the template is actually fixed to the cam which moved side to side by several millimetres. I've been a professional furniture maker for 8 years and can cut dovetails more accurately than this by hand in less time. A few locating lugs would help to keep the parts at right angles and aligned but even then the cams and clamps are so poor that at almost breaking point the wood still shifts as cutting. The cutter itself wasn't even a dovetail as it had 'wings' at the bottom where it hadn't been ground properly - meaning at the bottom of every dovetail is a T-slot. Not a major issue but by the time I've bought a new cutter and spent another couple of hours setting it back up I could've just bought a trend. Don't believe those who say it only needs setting up once, once you've loosened or moved a single part everything will need resetting (or rechecking). Don't waste your money. Just buy a Trend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Given Up 2 of us tried to follow the instructions and some time later, huge pile of sawdust and nothing even close we both gave up (I am a DIY'er and my mate is a Carpenter by trade). Total piece of dunk

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dovetail jig Once you have done the maths and set it up the jig is easy to use. The only downside is that the comb is plastic, not metal, so is easy to damage with the router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a fabulous piece of kit After wrestling with the instructions which were horrendous for about 20 minutes i gave up with them. After figuring it out myself which was relatively quick i am confidently producing perfect joints everytime. I will be using this jig alot in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it said in the book A well made piece of equipment, have now used it a few times, I found the setting up paperwork hard to follow, but once I got around the set up process, its a great little unit and does exactly what it says in the book. Very tight and neat dovetails will be using a lot in the near future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tricky bit of kit Tricky to get it set up correctly. Easy to damage the comb if you do not get the guide and its bolts to sit exactly flush with the baseplate of your router. I had to customise a little to get it flush. Instructions take a bit of understanding. I have practised once and not got it right yet but confident I shall get there eventually.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wish the comb wasn't plastic! Hi - be warned, although this is advertised as "heavy gauge steel construction", the comb itself is acryllic not metal and very brittle as a result. Fingers snap off very easily, especially if you try to use a pattern following bit with ball bearing rather than the supplied router guide (which needed filing down to fit my router in any case). I wish they'd gone for the steel comb that comes with some of the other "budget" versions of this jig...
